About the role

Fibretel Networks is a regional internet service provider delivering fibre broadband to homes and businesses across Kochi, Thrissur and surrounding towns, with around 85,000 active subscribers. We are hiring network engineers for the core network team in Kochi, responsible for OLT provisioning, BNG and routing operations, and peering links. The job mixes planned work such as capacity upgrades with unplanned nights when a fibre cut takes a town offline, and we staff an honest rotation for that. Hands-on experience with ISP or campus networks is required; JNCIA or CCNA level knowledge expected, enterprise or ISP side.

Responsibilities

  • Operate and provision OLT, BNG and core routing infrastructure
  • Plan and execute capacity upgrades on aggregation links
  • Respond to outages within the on-call rotation and document RCA
  • Manage bandwidth policies and subscriber provisioning workflows
  • Monitor network health and act on utilisation trends
  • Coordinate with field teams during fibre restoration

Required skills

  • Linux Administration
  • Network Administration

Telecom · 1001-5000 employees · Kolkata

Fibretel Networks builds and operates fibre broadband infrastructure in West Bengal, Odisha, Bihar and the Northeast, serving retail subscribers and acting as a wholesale bandwidth partner for local cable operators. Headquartered in Salt Lake Sector V, Kolkata, the company maintains over 24,000 kilometres of fibre and city networks in 60 towns. Field operations employ the majority of staff, while a Kolkata-based engineering group works on network monitoring, provisioning systems and the subscriber app. Fibretel recruits engineers from eastern India who want telecom-scale work without relocating, and trains field technicians through its own academy.
