About the role

Rathnam Auto Components manufactures precision-machined transmission parts for OEM customers from two plants in the Chennai region, employing over 900 people. Our IT team of five manages infrastructure across both plants and the head office, and we are adding a junior network administrator. You will maintain switches, firewalls and site-to-site links, monitor the shop-floor network that machine data collection depends on, and handle structured cabling jobs with contractors. CCNA-level knowledge is expected, certification or not. The role reports to the IT manager and involves weekly travel between the two plants on company transport.

Responsibilities

  • Maintain switches, access points and firewall rules across two plants
  • Monitor site-to-site links and escalate carrier issues promptly
  • Support the shop-floor network used for machine data collection
  • Manage structured cabling work with contractors
  • Keep network diagrams and IP records accurate
  • Assist the IT manager in the annual security review
