About the role
Veltrix Labs builds document-intelligence products for Indian lenders and insurers from its Bengaluru office. We are hiring a senior data scientist to lead our work on language models for financial document understanding, including retrieval pipelines, fine-tuning of open-weight models and rigorous evaluation against human benchmarks. The role owns the research agenda for a product line, works directly with two large lending clients on accuracy commitments, and mentors a team of four. We expect published or shipped evidence of serious NLP work, comfort presenting to non-technical stakeholders, and honest handling of model limitations. Hybrid, HSR Layout.
Responsibilities
- Set the research agenda for financial document understanding
- Fine-tune and evaluate open-weight language models against accuracy benchmarks
- Design retrieval and grounding pipelines that hold up on client data
- Mentor four data scientists through review and pairing
- Present accuracy commitments and trade-offs to client stakeholders
- Convert research outcomes into production plans with engineering
